About this policy

Elsewhere Languages LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides Elsewhere Mexico (also styled Elsewhere México), Elsewhere Japan, Elsewhere France, Elsewhere China, and Sammy Blocks. This policy explains how we handle information in these iPhone games, on elsewherelanguages.com, and when you contact us.

Elsewhere Languages LLC is responsible for the personal information it handles under this policy. Apple and other services described below also handle information under their own privacy notices.

Information in our games

Our games do not require a player account. They do not ask you to provide your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, or microphone recordings to play. Elsewhere games and Sammy Blocks versions before 1.0.2 do not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, use advertising identifiers, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

The games store information locally so they can remember your progress and choices:

  • Elsewhere games: village progress, learned words, activities, inventory, in-game currency, friendships with game characters, home choices, sound preferences, and which loading postcards have appeared.
  • Sammy Blocks: level progress, unlocked content, tutorial status, appearance choices, and game preferences.

This saved gameplay information is kept in the app’s storage on your device. Our current games do not upload it to a developer-operated account or cloud-save service. Device backups or transfers may include app data depending on your Apple settings. Local startup and performance logs may also be generated on the device for troubleshooting; the games do not automatically upload those logs to us.

Optional Meta measurement in Sammy Blocks

Starting with version 1.0.2, Sammy Blocks includes Meta’s iOS SDK to measure which ads bring players to the game and which ads lead to purchases. This measurement starts only after you grant permission through the iOS tracking request. If you decline, or iOS restricts tracking, the SDK does not initialize. Gameplay and purchases remain available either way.

When you allow it, the integration can send Meta your device advertising identifier, app launches and session activity, and verified new purchases, including product identifier, transaction amount and currency. The SDK also handles technical information needed to send these events, such as app and device information and network connection information. Meta may link this information with data from other apps and websites for advertising measurement. See Meta’s Privacy Policy for how Meta handles information it receives.

The integration does not send puzzle boards, move histories or saved game progress. Automatic purchase logging, screen-title and link metadata collection, and product-improvement screen-layout sampling are disabled. Restored purchases and sandbox test transactions are not reported as new revenue. This optional measurement applies to Sammy Blocks; it does not add tracking SDKs to the Elsewhere games.

Purchases and diagnostics

Purchases. Where Apple in-app purchases are available, including Sammy Blocks content and appearance upgrades, Apple processes the payment. The app uses Apple’s StoreKit service to check product information and verified purchase or entitlement status, unlock content, and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment card details or Apple Account password. Apple may provide us with sales and financial reports through its developer services.

Diagnostics. Apple may make app performance, usage, and crash information available to us according to your device settings and Apple’s platform rules. We use information made available to us to identify problems and improve reliability. TestFlight beta testing can involve additional feedback, crash, device, and usage information under Apple’s TestFlight terms.

Learn more in Apple’s Privacy Policy, App Analytics & Privacy, and TestFlight & Privacy. Apple controls information it collects directly, including its payment records.

Sending a postcard

When you choose “Send postcard” in an Elsewhere game, the app opens the device’s sharing menu with the selected game postcard, a message, and a game link if one is configured. You choose the destination and whether to complete the share. We do not access your address book, select recipients for you, or receive a list of recipients.

The app or service you select handles the shared content under its own privacy policy. Sharing is optional and is not required to play.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include, such as your name, a description of a problem, screenshots, or diagnostic files. We use that information to reply, provide support, investigate issues, and handle privacy requests. Please avoid sending passwords, payment card details, or other sensitive information.

Our email provider processes these messages to deliver and store correspondence. We do not add support contacts to a marketing list simply because they contact us.

Visiting our website

Our website’s hosting and delivery services, including OpenAI Sites and its infrastructure providers, process technical connection information needed to serve and protect the site. This can include your IP address, requested page, request time, and browser or device information. This processing is separate from game progress stored on your device.

The website loads fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those fonts, it connects to Google and sends technical request information, including your IP address and browser headers. See Google Fonts’ FAQ and Google’s Privacy Policy. Information handled by OpenAI is described in OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.

We do not add advertising cookies or third-party analytics scripts to this website. Hosting providers may use technical measures to deliver the site and prevent abuse. Links to Apple, image-credit sources, and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.

How information is used and shared

We use information as described above to provide the games and website, deliver purchased content, respond to requests, fix problems, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Starting with Sammy Blocks 1.0.2, if you grant iOS tracking permission, the game shares the identifiers and events described above with Meta for advertising measurement. Meta may combine them with information from other apps and websites under its own privacy policy.

Information may be handled by providers that support hosting, email, and other necessary operations; shared when you direct us to do so; or disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal request, or protect people’s rights and safety. Service providers handling information on our behalf are expected to protect it and use it for the services they provide.

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on providing a requested service, our legitimate interests in support and secure operations, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. Apple and our other providers may process information in the United States and other countries as described in their privacy notices.

Retention and security

Local game saves remain until you reset or remove the app’s data. Deleting the app rather than offloading it generally removes its local data; backups may retain copies depending on your device settings. Removing an app does not erase Apple’s purchase history or automatically cancel a subscription, where one is available.

We retain support correspondence and any reports we receive only as long as reasonably needed to address the request, troubleshoot problems, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed. Providers apply their own retention rules to information they control.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Our games do not ask children to create an account or submit their name or contact details to play. The on-device storage practices described above also apply to children’s gameplay. The optional Meta measurement in Sammy Blocks does not start when iOS reports tracking permission as restricted or denied. Parents and guardians can manage tracking permission through Apple’s device privacy controls.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, for example in a support message, contact sam@elsewherelanguages.com. We will review the concern and delete information where required by applicable law. Parents and guardians can also manage purchases, sharing, and device privacy settings through Apple’s controls.

Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to share postcards or contact us, manage Apple’s analytics and privacy settings, and remove locally saved game data. We cannot access or remotely delete saves held only on your device. You can turn off Sammy Blocks tracking permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking. Removing the app does not delete information already received by Meta. For information Meta controls, see its privacy policy and privacy tools; for data Apple controls, use Apple’s privacy tools or contact Apple.

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; appeal a decision about a privacy request; or complain to a data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully carried out.

To make a request, email sam@elsewherelanguages.com and tell us which game or service it concerns. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your request. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

We’re here to help.

We may update this policy as our games, services, or practices change. We will post the revised policy here with a new “last updated” date and provide any additional notice or consent required by law.
